A feasibility study completed
in March 2003 which considered among other things
the final report by the Singapore Economic Review
Committee (ERC) Sub-Committee on Enhancing Human
Capital, led to the conception of the Pre-law
Scholars Programme (the "PSP"), an enrichment
programme that is the first of its kind in Singapore.
We feel that making an informed decision about
pursuing law as a career can be quite a task at
this stage of your life. It is one of our intentions,
during the PSP, to provide participants with a
useful insight into the legal profession. For
those who think they are suited for a career in
law, we will provide them with the information,
skill set and strategy to position themselves
for their chosen career path. We aim to train
participants on securing a scholarship, preparing
for admissions into the top international universities
and handling interviews. We also hope to place
those who are interested on vacation schemes with
practising lawyers so as to provide first-hand
experience of the intellectually stimulating environment
that lawyers enjoy. The vacation schemes, combined
with opportunities to meet socially with legal
practitioners, will equip you with the confidence
that you need to carry yourself in any demanding
setting.
The PSP is structured to be a versatile course
that will be of use to all participants, regardless
of their final choice of study in their tertiary
education. At a time when standing out from the
crowd in the highly competitive university admissions
regime is paramount, having the skill set offered
by PSP will be a valuable asset. At the end, our
aim is to select highly motivated, driven individuals
and optimize their talent to produce a select
pool of high achieving, creative individuals.
By the end of the PSP, you will have grown both
as a student and as a person. Experiencing the
PSP will give you the confidence to succeed as
you enter the next phase of your life-University.
You will also be part of the PSP Alumni Network.
The Admissions Board invites you to contact us
for any further information you may require and
we look forward to receiving your application.
